Back in June when Broad Ripple restaurant The Vanguard abruptly shut its doors following the sudden resignation of their chef and bar manager, owner Bill Ficca extended an offer to seasoned restaurant & bar professionals to reach out with their proposals. Now before summer’s end they’re set to reopen with a new chef and a revamped menu.
Former chef and owner of Mile Square Bistro (closed), Charles Mereday stepped up to the plate. Mereday is a classically trained chef with stops at Zanzibar Blue in Philadelphia and three Michelin star, La Maison Troisgros in France.
He gained recognition in Naples after opening three other highly-regarded restaurants.
The Vanguard will relaunch Wednesday, September 18 with a new menu described as ‘more refined and affordable than the previous incarnation’ as reported by the IndyStar’s Liz Biro – although still fine dining.
Ficca believes Broad Ripple is in need of more high-end restaurants with the residential developments fo the popular midtown neighborhood. Previous customers will be happy to learn the popular fried chicken will return on the new menu.
