One of Indy‘s favorite events is taking this year off. The Strawberry Festival, hosted annually on Monument Circle by Christ Church Cathedral, is an Indy staple. Each year, nearly 20,000 shortcakes are sold, topped with strawberries, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. 95% of the proceeds support community programs like Joy’s House and the Peace Learning Center.
The popular event was scheduled to take place on June 11 before organizers decided to postpone the festival, which would’ve marked its 55th year. The church is requesting donations of $7 (the price of a shortcake) to continue supporting festival beneficiaries.
