A staple of Mass Ave for nearly 18 years, MacNiven’s will close its doors following service on New Year’s Eve.
In the announcement on Facebook, Macnivens will be partnering with Slapfish owner Mark Weghorst to open Raw Bar – a Peruvian-style raw fish house & oyster bar.
The new venture will be fashioned after a Huntington Beach concept conceived by Chef Andrew Gruel where a raw bar operates next to a Slapfish location.
Fans of the Scottish American favorite shouldn’t worry though as The Harbour, a spinoff fish & chips stand is set to open at The Garage in the Bottleworks District in early 2021.
