John’s Famous Stew has sold, a year after closing

UPDATE, October 29 – A message on the restaurant’s Facebook page from Mary Ann Caito read “I am very happy to share that John’s Famous Stew has SOLD. More information to follow.”

July 12, 2020 – JAfter more than four decades, John’s Famous Stew announced Saturday on Facebook they will not be reopening.

The popular stew was based on family recipes dating back to the late 1800’s in Macedonia from Mother Dapa Strangeff which called for iron kettles on wood-burning stoves.
