“In case you’re somehow unaware (despite all of my stories over the past year and a half) there’s a new-ish hot lil spot on the Ave that my hubs has worked his entire butt off building from the ground up. Allow me to introduce you to Crema//Almost Famous!
During the day, Crema is open for coffee, brunch snax, low ABV drinks (we call them Cheeky Kikis) and random silent screenings on the giant projector screen. It’s the perfect chill coffee and lunch spot for WFH, meetings, general hang outs, or just grabbing a quick to-go item while you’re out walking Mass Ave. Their most popular items are the pistachio latte and croissant sammies. Hot tip: try the Shakerato with ginger *chef kiss*
At night it turns into Almost Famous, which is a whole mood- low light, candles, craft cocktails, tapas and occasional live performances on the stage which was salvaged from the previous tenants, Comedy Sportz. Whether there’s live jazz, drag, burlesque, vocalists or no performance at all, you can guarantee that it’ll be a sexy, intimate, delicious and welcoming experience. Pictured above in photo 2 is a classic daiquiri, a house staple at Almost Famous, but maybe the most popular (and IMO the absolute best in Indy) is their Espresso Martini ?
One of my favorite things about Almost Famous is that it can be whatever you want it to be- Coffee shop during the day, cocktail lounge at night, live music and performance venue, casual brunch meet up, high-energy drag brunch Sunday funday ( @brunchaf_indy ), private party space, late-night goth dance party ( Dark Mass ), karaoke bar, upscale dinner and drink spot, or casual local watering hole. It’s unpretentious, it’s Spanish inspired, it’s local and it’s fueled by @curtismcgaha ‘s passion to make sure that every little detail is done right. I’m so proud of him for taking a chance in the middle of a pandemic and turning this old comedy club into a shiny new and exciting business. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you really need to!
