When local entrepreneur Mark Weghorst dreamed of opening Slapfish Downtown Indy on Mass Ave, he looked forward to elevating Indy’s seafood scene not only for local residents and downtown workers, but also for the city’s millions of annual visitors. The pandemic struck just months before opening day, putting those dreams on hold for Weghorst and his fellow restaurateurs.
Now with Indy at the epicenter of March Madness, the Slapfish Downtown Indy team is ready to welcome NCAA teams, fans, and media for this unprecedented event.
To add to the excitement of hosting this first-time event and to complement the NCAA’s #MaskMadness campaign, during the tournament from Selection Sunday March 14 to the Championship Game April 5, Slapfish Downtown Indy will be giving away Slapfish face masks with every Lobster Roll purchase ordered in store, over the phone at 317-686-9713, or through https://slapfishindiana.com/, while supplies last.
Slapfish Downtown Indy opened on Mass Ave in July 2020, amidst the pandemic, and continues to be grateful for the support the restaurant has received. “It’s been an honor to serve our community during these past 8 months with fresh, sustainable seafood at a very reasonable price point, as well as to create jobs at a time when unfortunately, so many are looking for work,” said local owner Weghorst. “But we are excited to now have the chance to showcase our Hoosier hospitality and all this city offers to visitors as well, through this incredible first-time event. We look forward to welcoming seafood lovers from across the country.”
