We’ve determined the following statement of ethics which all employees and content contributors agree to abide by.
EatHere & contributors do not accept free dishes or meals from restaurants or their representatives unless they are items given to other patrons or regulars. We will strive for anonymity when visiting restaurants, meaning we will make reservations under assumed names, avoid posting photos of ourselves publicly, and refrain from revealing our identities when introduced to chefs and restaurateurs. We will not abuse our title to obtain favors of any kind.
We are permitted to attend media events, press previews, and friends and family meals but will not accept a comped check for a regular restaurant meal.
We may accept gifts, so long as the acceptance of the gift in no way compromises or guarantees coverage of the product/service. Examples of acceptable gifts that fall under this category include a personal dish sent out by a restaurant’s kitchen during a meal that we would otherwise pay full price for. This also includes events we’re covering. Any item given to us or contributors with a value of over $100 must be approved and disclosed on the site.
EatHere has advertisers on our site; they are our primary source of revenue. Our company is responsible for selling advertising space on our properties. We do not accept trade for advertising, including grand openings in exchange for coverage. Any feature on EatHere channels that is brand sponsored by a particular company developed independently by the EatHere sales teams will be clearly marked as an advertisement and as “Sponsored Content.” Advertisements and Paid Content do not necessarily reflect the views of the content we publish.
EatHere content may contain marketing links, which means our company will receive a commission for purchases made via those links. EatHere does optimize certain content for sponsored revenue, and such content is marked as such by including a similar sponsored links disclosure.
EatHere engages in partnerships with other businesses, brands, and organizations whose activities resonate with company objectives as a whole. These partnerships do not impact the content that we independently publish. We may create content as part of these partnerships, and we may publish this content on our sites. In these cases, we will include a disclosure to describe the nature of the partnership and the extent to which our content teams were involved in the creation of the content.
EatHere makes every effort for media to be accurate upon publishing. Mistakes brought to our attention will be corrected, but as a general rule, entire posts will not be removed.
EatHere obtains news and content from a variety of sources. If sources do not wish to be named, we grant anonymity and make best efforts to confirm the accuracy of the information provided by sources and will not include any information we have not thoroughly vetted.
EatHere will conduct contests and giveaways for viewers on our website and social. We will post rules for each contest, which will be binding on contestants who decide to participate. While giveaways or contests may be sponsored by an advertiser or partner, they are not, and should never be considered, endorsements of the companies involved or their products.
