Bittersweet is closing effective immediately after owner injury

Owner Laura Johnston posted the message below on Bittersweet’s social media accounts:

“It is with heavy heart to inform you we will be closing the doors of BitterSweet, effective immediately. Last Tuesday, I had an accident and broke my ankle in 3 places, I had ankle surgery a few days later. After speaking with my family and Surgeon, it is best for me to close the business and focus on my recovery. I am devastated and heartbroken.

The past 5 years have been some of the most rewarding and difficult years of my life. We survived a major pandemic, supply chain shortages and food /supply costs skyrocketing in price. Some of my best memories will be of Julia, Caroline, Hannah and I running bags of goodies out to cars for curbside carry out during the shutdown (2)

Caitlyn and I plan to meet in the next few days to discuss opening one last weekend the end of September to say our goodbyes and offer some final treats. Please keep an eye out for this announcement in the next few days. In the meantime, we will not beopen. If you have a gift certificate, please email me at [email protected] so we can discuss options. It has been an absolute pleasure having my business in Irvington, home of the kindest people around!”
