Meet the Black Founders of EatHere

It is with great urgency that I address the recent events that have shaken the world. As the CEO of EatHere, I am deeply saddened by the murder of George Floyd, and I understand the frustration that it has caused within our community. We have spent almost years building, nurturing, and catering to our audience, and we are tired of the injustice, unfairness, inequality, and underrepresentation that we as black men have to endure in America.

It is important to note that less than 1% of Black-owned companies receive funding, and the economic impact of COVID-19 has made it even more difficult to build sustainable businesses in the black/brown community. As we navigate through these trying times, I want to emphasize that we have been a faceless business for a reason. We wanted our audience to value our company based on the product we were producing, not from the people who ran it.

However, it is important that our audience knows who is driving the content, conversation, and business. We have dedicated our culture, passion, expertise, resilience, and dollars to the Indianapolis food community, yet we consistently struggle to see the internal returns on our investments.

We appreciate the all of the engagement and encouragement we’ve received in building this product and company, but right now, it is not business as usual. We are not okay, and it is important that our audience understands the weight of our emotions. As the CEO, I want to reassure our community that we will continue to persevere through these difficult times, and we will use our platform to bring awareness to the issues that we face as black men in America.
