Free Junior Chef Spring Break Classes at City Market

Join the nutrition services team from the Marion County Public Health Department for their children’s cooking adventures-Junior Chef at the Indianapolis City Market!

March 29 (12-1:15pm): 

Help kids (ages 6-12) learn to tame the after school hunger monster. In this hands-on class, junior chefs will learn to make good-tasting good-for-you snacks from around the world.

Recipes: Avocado Raita, Sicilian Tomato Salad and Puerto Rican Fried Plantains.

March 31 (12-1:15pm): 

Junior Chefs (ages 6-12) explore the fruit and veggie rainbow and learn some new cooking skills, too!  Participation is a must in this class where kids will learn to prepare a variety of colorful, delicious fruits and vegetables.

Recipes: Groovy Green smoothie, chia pudding, corn avocado salad with chips.

Location

Families will be meeting in the Demo Kitchen located by the Market Street entrance of the City Market for meet and greet with parents and to sign liability forms. Parents will then walk with their child to a private classroom with instructors. Each child will be given a passport matching parents passport for pick up when class is finished. Parents are welcome to stay and watch or enjoy shopping, eating and dining within the City Market campus during class. Thank you to the Indy Black Chamber of Commerce for donating the teaching space for our Junior Chefs! 

Children should not be exhibiting any symptoms of illness to attend class.
