Record Crowds Expected for the 53rd Annual Indy Strawberry Festival ?

The beloved Annual Strawberry Festival presented by the Christ Church Cathedral Women returns to Monument Circle Thursday, June 14 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The event serves as a fundraiser with 95% of proceeds going to support 43 community programs including Coburn Place and the Damien Center.

This will be the 53rd year for the cash-only festival which will sell nearly 20,000 shortcakes prepared by just under 100 volunteers. If you have time to hang out for awhile, there will be live entertainment after 10:00 AM.

The Inaugural Strawberry Festival was held on Thursday, June 10th 1965. The Cathedral Women baked 100 homemade shortcakes which sold out in just two hours. It was originally hosted on Thursday night to capitalize on the evening hours of the J.C. Penney on Monument Circle. Although much has changed, the festival is still held on the second Thursday of June each year.

Our advice: The basement line opens early at 8:30 AM. Order “The Works,’ which includes shortcake, strawberries, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream for just $7. Items may also be purchased separately for $2 each.
